"Identity" does not imply an identity in the literal sense. It is the issue of "Identity" of Ruhani like other Kashmiri girls.
IITian Jishan, from West Bengal, joined a multinational company at Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. There, he dramatically met Ruhani, an intern at Rajouri Government Hospital. The rope of a relationship eventually turned into love. They floated in the excitement of youth. They repeatedly involved in the version of their heart.
They dreamt of building a small cottage with full of happiness, peace, faith and immense love. They promised to be by each other's side in the December and May. But their way of getting marriage was obstacled by the peculiar provisions promulgating special status for Jammu and Kashmir under article 370 of Indian constitution. If a girl from Jammu and Kashmir married a boy from nother State in the country, she and her future children would be deprived of her ancestral property. This was not the rule for boys. They could easily marry a girl from another State.
Ruhani raised this discrimination. Why was such discrimination even within the same country? It was not just a question of their property rights, it was a question of their dignity and identity. Jishan and Ruhani kept floating in different directions.
What will be the fate of their relationship? Whenever no one found a solution to this issue, then one declaration dramatically changed the scenario. The special status of Jammu & Kashmir had been lifted in 2019. Now there is no bar, no discrimination, no deprivation--one nation, one constitution and no special status for Jammu and Kashmir. Now will their relationship revive? Will Ruhani exercise her rights for ancestral property like thousands of Kashmiri girls?
